Meri Toivanen (Kajaani, Finland, 1996) is the ex-aequo laureate of the 2022 Marianne Van Vyve Prize. Meri presented a series of semi-monochromatic paintings in diffused hues of green exploring the limits of figuration. Entitled All Games No Play and drawing on Finnish movie history as a referential inventory, the series centres around board games and gameplay as a symbol for power relations and struggles.
